CARDEY WINS THRILLER AT THE PAS
Perris, CA…….David Cardey of Riverside, Calif. grabbed the lead from Blake Miller on the final lap to win Saturday night’s 30-lap Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint car thriller at Perris Auto Speedway. Cardey led laps 9-28 before slipping behind Miller on the white-flag lap, but regained the top spot exiting turn two on the last lap in his ITI Performance/Empire Plumbing Viper/Chevy and held on to score a narrow victory over Miller, Rip Williams, Danny Sheridan and Greg Bragg. Cardey becomes the fifth different USAC/CRA race winner in five 2009 races. Mike Spencer finished eight and emerged as the series point leader as a result. Jorden Hermansader and Josh Ford also led the feature. Cory Kruseman was the fastest qualifier.
