Speedway, Indiana (May 31, 2020)………Defending USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car champion C.J. Leary will be sporting a new, but familiar number when the series returns to the track for the first time in nearly four months this weekend, Saturday, June 6, at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa and Sunday, June 7, at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo.

In those events and beyond, Leary, of Greenfield, Ind. will be back behind the wheel of the family-owned Leary Racing No. 30, the same team and car number that the 2019 series champ raced to six of his nine career USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car feature victories.

In the offseason, Leary joined Gene Gile Racing following a 2019 championship run with Reinbold-Underwood Motorsports and became just the second defending champion driver in this millennium to compete with the No. 1 on the car, signifying the previous year’s success.

Back during the most recent series races in February at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Fla., Leary was the Fatheadz Eyewear fast qualifier on the second night of the season and brought home finishes of third and seventh in his two outings to reside fourth in the standings.

Leary confirmed that he and Gene Gile Racing had parted ways after two events and confirmed the move back to the family car, stating, “I will be back in the family No. 30 for the remainder of the year until another opportunity arises.”

Leary retains the services of 2019 USAC Chief Mechanic of the Year Davey Jones as the crew chief for the Leary Racing No. 30.
