BERNAL #1 AT SANTA MARIA; VANDERWEERDS STILL 1-2

 


The VanderWeerd brothers of Visalia, Calif., Richard and Jace, continue atop the USAC West Coast 360 Sprint Car standings as the series prepares for an August 20 appearance at Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway in Hanford, Calif.


 


Richard has a 71-point lead over Jace after the two finished third and seventh respectively in last Saturday’s race at Santa Maria, Calif.


 


Ryan Bernal of Hollister, Calif. led all but the first two laps of Saturday night’s 30-lapper at Santa Maria. Danny Faria Jr. took second ahead of series point leader Richard VanderWeerd, Davey Pombo and Dennis Howell. Faria led the two opening laps of the race.
