GRADY CHANDLER RECOVERY UPDATE

Speedway, Indiana (October 10, 2019)………Piedmont, Oklahoma driver Grady Chandler, who was seriously injured in a racing accident on July 26 on the 18th lap of the USAC Wingless Sprints Oklahoma feature event at Creek County Speedway, continues his recovery.

On Tuesday, during his 76th day in the hospital, Chandler had his tracheotomy removed, which was announced in a post by his mother on the "Do it for Grady" Facebook page.

“After Grady’s injury, we were told he would be unable to breathe on his own and that he would require a tracheotomy and ventilator due to the level of injury,” the post stated.  “Well, guess what, his tracheotomy was REMOVED today, praise God.  Anyone that knows the Chandler (family) will tell you, whenever we are involved in something, things happen that “have never been seen before.”  So, keep the prayers coming for my sweet boy for continued healing and pray that we continue to see the “Chandler Luck.”  Thank you again for all the support!”

The accident for the 19-year-old Chandler resulted in a broken neck and several broken vertebrae, requiring extensive surgery to repair all of the breaks.

To help aid in Grady’s recovery, you can donate directly to the USAC Benevolent Fund at http://usacbf.org/donate/.
