CANEY "FREEDOM TOUR" FALLS TO RAIN; FRIDAY'S RACE AT 81 STILL "ON"

Excessive rain has forced the cancelation of Saturday night’s scheduled USAC Southwest Sprint Cars Fifth Annual “Freedom Tour” finale at the Caney Valley Speedway near the Oklahoma-Kansas border.

Extensive rain in recent weeks including several more inches this week with additional rain in the forecast for the remainder of Friday have left grounds too saturated to host the event.

The annual series will now wrap up with Friday night’s card atop the 3/8-mile 81 Speedway near Wichita, Kansas, with racing scheduled to go green at 7:30 p.m.  Yuma’s Mike Martin has topped the most recent pair of “Freedom Tour” events at 81 Speedway before last year’s round was rained out.

Arizona’s Charles Davis, Jr., topped this week’s opening round of “Freedom Tour” competition at Little Rock’s I-30 Speedway on Wednesday night before hometown shoe Blake Hahn won Thursday’s leg at Creek County Speedway near Tulsa.
