9 DRIVERS REMAIN MATHEMATICALLY ELIGIBLE TO WIN INDIANA MIDGET WEEK TONIGHT AT KOKOMO
And then there was one. One race remains and nine drivers remain mathematically eligible to win the 2017 Indiana Midget Week championship coming into tonight’s finale at Kokomo Speedway.
New Zealand’s Michael Pickens has been in control of the points since Wednesday, but a lap two incident Saturday night at Lawrenceburg relegated the Gas City and Lincoln Park IMW winner to a 19th place result. That allowed several drivers to bunch up a tight points race that includes Shane Golobic who now sits just one point out of the lead despite being without a win in the series.
Tyler Courtney has won twice at Montpelier and Bloomington and is just a mere three points out of the lead in third with USAC National Midget point leader Brady Bacon in fourth, nine points behind, and Lawrenceburg winner Rico Abreu 12 points out in fifth.
Justin Grant (-19), Spencer Bayston (-29), Tanner Thorson (-56) and Chad Boat (-57) round out the top-nine of drivers still in contention.
Pit gates for the Kokomo IMW finale open at 3pm. Spectator gates open at 3pm. The drivers meeting will be held at 5:15pm with cars on track at 5:45pm. Watch tonight’s race LIVE on http://www.SpeedShiftTV.com/. Watch a day later on-demand at http://www.Loudpedal.TV/.
