“WESTERN WORLD” CLOSES SOUTHWEST/WEST COAST SPRINTS 11/19-21;
JOHNSON GETS 27TH ARIZONA WIN AT CASA GRANDE
The “Western World Championships” November 19-21 at USA Raceway in Tucson, Ariz. signal the close of the 2015 USAC Southwest and West Coast Sprint Car seasons and R.J. Johnson and Charles Davis Jr. are set to battle for the Southwest title in the three night racing spectacular.
Johnson, of Phoenix, Ariz., scored his ninth Arizona victory of the 2015 USAC Southwest Sprint Car campaign Saturday night at Central Arizona Speedway in Casa Grande. He led all but one lap of the 30-lap race in his Michaels entry, passing Davis on lap two, and set sail to beat Davis, Mike Martin, Matt Rossi and Nick Aiuto. The win was Johnson’s 27th of his USAC career in Arizona.
Johnson currently holds a 68-point lead over Davis as he chases his third consecutive championship. He and Davis own 41 total Southwest feature victories (Johnson 29 and Davis 12). Johnson has scored nine point wins already this year.
