LEGENDARY DRIVERS SIGNING AUTOGRAPHS AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY SATURDAY!
(Perris, CA, August 11, 2015) Southern California racing fans will be able to get the autographs of several legendary racers when the AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint Cars headline the “California Racers Hall of Fame Night” at Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday, August 15th. Before the races begin the drivers will be in the track’s sports bar signing free autographs, posing for photos and talking with fans.
“When the spectator gates open at 5:00 PM, fans can go straight to the sports bar to meet the legends of the sport,” promoter Don Kazarian said. “We hope they dig out their old programs, photos and other memorabilia to get signed on Saturday. It is not only a good time for the fans, but the drivers love it as well. It adds to the experience at the track and is always one of our most popular shows of the year.”
Among the many drivers who will be on hand at the signing is 5-time CRA champion and National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Jimmy Oskie. Other confirmed CRA champs who will be signing include “Lover Boy” Bob Hogle (1963 & 1968), Don Thomas (1966), Rick Goudy (1978) and Eddie Wirth (1985). Rickie Hood, the 1984 & 1985 USAC National Sprint Car champ and 1985 USAC Silver Crown champion, has indicated he will be on hand for a rare PAS appearance. Among the other popular stars who have confirmed their participation are Mike Sweeney, John Redican and Jeff Heywood.
While the previously mentioned drivers have all confirmed their participation, several other major stars, including Ron Shuman, Brad Noffsinger, Don Hamilton and Stan Atherton, are rumored to be headed to "The PAS" for the fun show on Saturday.
Saturday’s 30-lap main event will be dedicated to National Sprint Car Hall of Fame mechanic Bruce Bromme Jr. who passed away in 2014.
The USAC/CRA portion of the show will include a lot of extra money over the normal purse and will be highlighted by a 4-car, 4-lap $2,000 winner-take-all trophy dash courtesy of Junior Kurtz and Bill Simpson. The fast qualifier at all USAC/CRA races receives $100 from the Woodland Auto Display, but this Saturday the quick timer will collect an extra $500 as well from the family of two-time CRA champion Billy Wilkerson. Winners of Saturday’s USAC/CRA heat races will take home $250 if there are four heats and $300 if there are three. The heat race money is courtesy of Mark Atchison and AMA Plastics. In addition, nearly $4,000 will be added into the main event purse in lap money.
Along with the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars, The PAS Senior & Young Gun Sprint Cars and the California Lightning Sprint Cars will also be on the quadruple header program. Racing will start at 7:00 PM.
Adult reserved tickets are $25.00. Seniors 65 and older get in for $20.00. For active military members with proper i.d., teens 13-18 with their school i.d. and kids 6-12, it is just $5.00. Children 5 and under get in for free.
Camping is available for $25.00 per night for all PAS events. The campground opens at noon the day before each event. Tailgating in the spectator parking lot will begin at 1:00 PM for all PAS events as well.
