SOUTHWEST SPRINTS AT QUEEN CREEK SATURDAY;

MARTIN #1 AT LAS CRUCES; RAIN TAKES EL PASO

USAC’s Southwest Sprint Cars return to Arizona Speedway for "Monsoon Madness" this Saturday in Queen Creek, Ariz. Defending series champion R.J. Johnson enters the race with a 56-point lead in the standings over Charles Davis Jr.

Mike Martin of Yuma, Ariz. led all 30 laps to win Saturday night’s USAC Southwest Sprint Car “Border Tour” feature at Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, N.M. Davis took second ahead of Matt Rossi, Brian Hosford and Dennis Gile.

Johnson has already won twice at Queen Creek this year while Davis won the other outing there.

Rain forced cancellation of last Friday night’s “Border Tour” race at El Paso (Texas) Speedway Park.
