SOUTHWEST “BORDER TOUR” VISITS EL PASO & LAS CRUCES

R.J. Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz. continues his drive toward a possible third consecutive USAC Southwest Sprint Car championship this weekend in the 2015 “Border Tour” at El Paso, Texas (Friday) and Las Cruces, New Mexico (Saturday).

Johnson won last year’s Southern New Mexico Speedway race at Las Cruces and is undefeated at El Paso Speedway Park after 2013 and 2014 wins. But, he needs to be aware of local favorite Rick Ziehl, whose scored 2012 and 2013 wins at the Las Cruces oval.

Johnson has 27 career series wins and owns trophies from seven of the last 10 races this year. His point lead is 77 over Charles Davis, Jr. entering this week’s racing. Davis has one victory and a pair of seconds so far this season.
