WESTERN MIDGETS AT SANTA MARIA FRIDAY

Cody Swanson of Norco, Calif. leads the Honda USAC Western Midget points entering this Friday’s race at Santa Maria (Calif.) Raceway. He has a 14-point lead over defending series champion Ronnie Gardner.

Friday’s program also includes the AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint Cars.

Richard Vander Weerd won last year’s Santa Maria Midget race over Gatdner while Swanson did not compete. 

Lady driver Shannon McQueen, the 2012 USAC Western Midget Champion, stands third in the latest series standings, only 15 points behind the leader.
