SANTA MARIA HOSTS CRA SPRINTS JULY 3;
GARDNER WINS AGAIN AT THE PAS
The AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint point battle has heated up with three drivers contesting the point lead entering the July 3 race at Santa Maria (Calif.) Raceway.
Damion Gardner of Concord, Calif. led all 30 laps to win Saturday night’s race at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway. It was his third win of the year and second at the PAS in the Mark Alexander Scott Sales Company/J & D Performance Spike.
Mike Spencer recovered from a flip during the first heat and took second in the feature ahead of Austin Williams, Matt Mitchell and Jake Swanson. The runner-up finish kept Spencer atop the series points, 38 ahead of Mitchell and 40 ahead of Gardner.
Gardner is the most recent winner at Santa Maria, winning last September.
