GEN NEXT CHANGES AFFECTED ON 2013 SCHEDULE
 
New and innovative changes are in store for participants in the USAC .25 Midget “Gen Next” Championships next year, including a sweeping re-vamp of the points structure to determine National Champions and brand-new venues.
 
Both pavement and dirt National champions will be crowned in 2013, culminating in the July 9-13 “Battle at the Brickyard,” which return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (pavement) and four dirt-track races comprising the “Dirt Triple Crown culminating with the “4-Crown Nationals” weekend at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.”
 
Brand-new venues for 2013 include pavement races at Speedworld in Phoenix, Ariz. and at Syracuse, N.Y., with dirt races at Gilbert and Phoenixville, Pa.
 
The new National pavement points format will include participation in one of two regional championships (Eastern or Western), with the option of utilizing a “wild card” race at Lakeville, Ind. in August if needed. Western Championship events include the April 6-7 race at Phoenix, an April 13-14 event at the Orange Show in San Bernardino, Calif. and the April 27-28 Roadrunner race at Albuquerque, N.M. Eastern Championship events include the May 17-19 "Music City" event at Nashville, Tenn., June 7-9 Syracuse race, a June 20-22 race at Salisbury, N.C.
 
The "Little Hoosier Hundred" wild card race is slated August 2-4 in the Indiana city.
 
Drivers will earn “double” points for their participation in the “Brickyard” to be coupled with either their Eastern or Western tally in determining the pavement National Championship.
 
In addition to the May 31-June 2 West End race at Gilbert, Pa. and the July 19-21 Montgomery County race at Phoenixville, Pa., dirt drivers are also eyeing races at Hagerstown, Md. August 9-11 and the season-ending “4-Crown” at Eldora September 20-22.
