FAAS GRABS PERRIS’ “GLENN HOWARD MEMORIAL”
Only 39 points separate the top-three drivers in the latest AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint Car standings as they prepare for an October 8 appearance at the Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway. A total of 74 points are available at that event.
Nic Faas of Huntington Beach, Calif. won Saturday night’s 30-lap AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint race at Perris, leading the final 23 laps of the “Glenn Howard Memorial” after passing Greg Bragg for the lead on lap eight. Matt Mitchell finished second ahead of Austin Williams, Danny Sheridan and Bragg. Series point leader Mike Spencer was sixth. Faas also posted the fastest qualifying time.
Spencer continues to pursue a record fourth consecutive title, while Mitchell holds down the runner-up spot, 30 behind, and Faas is third in the points, 39 in arrears.
