RAIN, TRACK CONDITIONS CONSPIRE TO FORCE ELDORA POSTPONEMENTS
Officials of USAC and Eldora Speedway postponed Saturday night's scheduled "Coca-Cola Spring Classic" USAC AMSOIL National Sprint race due to rain and wet grounds. Track preparations were progressing but with the forecast calling for more showers, the decision to postpone was made to minimize travel costs, etc. This event WILL be rescheduled, and exciting news regarding that reschedule date is expected to be released soon.
Adverse track conditions forced cancellation of Friday night's "Coca-Cola Spring Classic" USAC AMSOIL National Sprint car race at Eldora despite extensive and lengthy track preparation efforts. "In the interest of driver and fan safety, we decided to cancel the event," said Eldora Speedway track director Larry Boos."
Practice sessions were conducted but track conditions did not improve and it became evident that racing could not be conducted safely. "We regret the cancellation of this program," said USAC Competition Director Jason McCord, "but feel it was the best decision for all involved. We are dedicated to working with Eldora Speedway and their staff to be able to conduct events here in the future and we thank them for their tireless efforts."
The USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Series returns to action April 16-17-18 with Indiana races at Gas City I-69 Speedway, Lawrenceburg Speedway and Kokomo Speedway respectively.
