STANBROUGH WIRE-TO-WIRE FOR PACIFIC COAST OPEN WIN


 

JONES CROWNED USAC NATIONAL SPRINT CHAMPION


Tulare, Calif…(November 15, 2009) Jon Stanbrough, Avon, Ind., led all 40-lap of the
30th ”Pacific Coast Open” Sunday night’s at the Thunderbowl Raceway, taking home the
$12,500 winner’s prize in his Indiana Underground Construction No. 37x Maxim.

Chad Boat, Phoenix, Ariz., stayed close to Stanbrough throughout the race in his
Billy Boat Performance Exhaust No. 30 Maxim, but eventually had to settle for a
second-place finish. Bud Kaeding, Campbell, Calif., placed third ahead of Damion
Gardner, Concord, Calif., and Brian Clauson, Noblesville, Ind.

Levi Jones, Avon, Ind., finished 12th and was officially crowned the 2009 USAC
National Sprint Car Champion. Fast qualifier Cole Whitt was running sixth when he
slowed to a stop with mechanical issues during the 16th circuit and was credited
with a 20th place finish. Lucas Oil USAC/CRA point leader finished 14th and will be
looking to claim his second straight title in thirteen days when the series returns
to the Perris Auto Speedway for the 2nd Annual “Glenn Howard Memorial.” Spencer’s
closest rival for the championship is David Cardey, who won Hard-Charger honors with
his ninth-place drive after starting in the 24th position.
