JUSTIN OWEN FUNERAL SERVICES TO BE HELD APRIL 13

Cincinnati, Ohio (April 10, 2023)………Funeral services for sprint car driver Justin Owen will be held on Thursday, April 13, at Spring Grove Funeral Homes in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Visitation will be held on Thursday at 9am Eastern with the service immediately following at 11am.  There will be a reception to follow at the funeral home from noon to 2pm.

The physical address of the funeral home is 4389 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45223.

Justin Cameron Owen, 26, passed away following a qualifying crash during last Saturday’s USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship program at Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway.  Owen was the 2022 track champion at the 3/8-mile dirt oval.

He is survived by his parents, Marita (Mike) Cable, Scott (Niki) Owen, his fiancé, Kenzie Knapp, and his sister, Alyssa (Eric) Stone, brother Josh Creech, and stepsister, Ryleigh Dennis.  Owen is also survived by his grandmother, Shirley Standley, and his grandfather, Mike Marqua.  He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Gloria Marqua, and uncle, Michael Marqua.

Owen started racing go-karts at the age of six and moved to sprint cars at age 15 and had competed for more than a decade in the sprint car ranks.  He was a 2014 graduate of Harrison High School in Ohio and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in operations management from the University of Cincinnati in 2018.

Owen’s death is the first in USAC National Sprint Car racing since Don Townsend in a 2005 practice crash at Ohio’s Mansfield Motorsports Park.  Owen’s incident was the first fatal accident with the USAC National Sprint Car division on dirt since Jeff Thickstun at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in 1984.
