WESTERN WORLD’S LAFOND JAR OF CHANGE HARD CHARGER BONUS UP FOR GRABS
Somerton, Arizona (October 20, 2022)………There will be an extra bonus up for grabs when the USAC AMSOIL National and USAC CRA Sprint Cars tackle Somerton, Arizona’s Cocopah Speedway this Friday and Saturday, October 28-29.
At the 55th Annual Chapman Chevrolet of Yuma Western World Championships Presented by Yuma Insurance and Avanti, the hard charger of Saturday’s main event will be presented with the “Lafond Jar of Change.”
Dating back to 1992, the prize money is collected from race fan donations. Last year, USAC CRA’s Brody Roa earned $1,900 for his “best passing job” at Arizona Speedway.
Prior to the 31st annual award, the “Lafond Jar of Change” has put over $27,000 in the hands of hard chargers, and in conjunction with the WagsDash and Wags Bucks, Ken Wagner and Steve Lafond have put over $675,000 in the hands of mostly low-buck racers.
To help support the collections, please see Drake York, Ben Thrasher and Lance Jennings at the event. Drake will make announcements about the award and the locations where to contribute at the speedway.
The Western World Championships feature the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship and AMSOIL USAC CRA Sprint Cars along with IMCA Northern SportMods and IMCA Hobby Stocks.
Each night, the pits open at 3pm Mountain Time with the grandstands opening at 5pm and hot laps at 6pm with qualifying and racing to immediately follow.
There is a practice night on Thursday night, October 27. Grandstand admission is free. Pit passes are $30 apiece. A pit party will follow practice courtesy of Yuma Auto and RV Center featuring a free rib tip meal with sides for anyone with a pit pass wristband.
Advance tickets are on sale now at www.racecocopahspeedway.com.
