SMITH 1ST AT HANFORD, STIDHAM STILL LEADS “CLASH”
Craig Stidham of Fresno, Calif. remains atop the standings of both the USAC West Coast 360 Sprint Car Series and the “Southwest Contractors Clash” after posting a ninth-place finish in Saturday night’s race at the Santa Maria (Calif.) Speedway.
Stidham’s lead over Davey Pombo is just a single point in the “Southwest Contractors Clash” mini-series, which concludes September 11 at Giant Chevrolet Speedway in Hanford, Calif. His lead in the West Coast 360s is 29 over Pombo.
T.J. Smith of Fresno, Calif. scored his second consecutive USAC West Coast 360 Sprint feature victory Saturday night at Santa Maria, leading the final 24 of 30 laps in his UHL Rubber/K & N Filters Maxim/S & S. Smith passed Richard VanderWeerd on lap seven and was never again headed as Danny Faria Jr. took second ahead of Pombo, Richard VanderWeerd and Justyne Hamblin. Faria was the fastest qualifier.
