HOWARD WINS WILD ONE AT BETHANY FOR FIRST MWRA VICTORY

Bethany, Missouri (September 5, 2021)………On Sunday night, the Wholesale Batteries USAC Midwest Wingless Racing Association Sprint Cars traveled to Bethany for a Barn “H” Burner featuring wild action throughout the 25-lapper and a first time MWRA victory for 17-year-old Luke Howard of Overland Park, Kansas.

This night belonged to the high school Senior from O.P. who lived up to the nickname “Cool Hand Luke” by turning adversity into victory after losing the lead late in the going but came back through traffic to catch and pass Schudy on the high side as they drag raced to the finish line in the Howard Deuce, wrenched by Rick Smith, a three-time WAR champion sprint car owner.

Meanwhile, after yet another podium, MWRA point leader Kory Schudy raced to second in the Jon Sawyer No. 28 after starting fifth.

Second place in points, Wesley Smith, went off the racing surface multiple times in the 25-lapper before rebounding to beat Chris Parkinson for third, while Brian Beebe returned to the Midwest Series after some time off to race to fifth.

On this second to last race for the Midwest Wingless Series in 2021, Chad Goff once again battled, scraped, and clawed to a top-seven finish after starting 18th to win the Design Source Flooring Hard Charger award. Earlier in the evening, Smith, driving the Helm No. 12, took a heat race win along with Schudy and Howard.

Missourians Kory Schudy of Battlefield, Wesley Smith from Billings, Chris Parkinson of Gladstone, and Brian Beebe, Oak Grove rounded out the top-five. Wyatt Burks, Chad Goff, Brad Wyatt, Zach Clark and Justin Johnson rounded out the top-10 during a beautiful night for racing at the Northwest Missouri State Fairgrounds.

The USAC Midwest Wingless Racing Association is next in action on September 25th at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri for the 4th Annual John E. Helm Memorial to complete the 2021 racing season.
