WAGNER SAILS TO VICTORY AT LAKESIDE IN WELD MEMORIAL GO!
By: Ray Cunningham
Kansas City, Kansas (August 6, 2021) Friday night at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas Jack “Jack of all Trades” Wagner, gassed his way to victory in the Weld Memorial for the Wholesale Batteries USAC MWRA traditional sprint cars besting the “Buzzsaw From Warsaw” Riley Kreisel, Xavier “X-Man” Doney, Sam Wagner, and Kory Schudy rounding out the top 5. While Wesley Smith, Braydon Cromwell, Terry Richards, Chad Goff, and Chris Parkinson, finished in places 6th thru 10th.
For Lone Jack, Missouri driver Jack Wagner it was his 2nd victory in the MWRA for 2021 running the Jesse Hockett Racing #77 after previously winning at Double X in May. And came after the Show Me State Driver fought thru traffic to catch and pass fellow Missouri driver and three time WAR Champ Kreisel for the victory.
Earlier in the evening Third place finisher Doney would win the 1st heat race in impressive fashion. While Jack Wagner’s brother Samuel would have his best night ever racing with the MWRA winning the second heat race and coming home 4th in the A feature. Meanwhile Kreisel coming off a string of bad luck breaking at Hutchinson, Kansas, and Sedalia, Missouri, over the last few weeks, won the third heat, and followed that up with his best result of the season so far coming home in 2nd place in feature.
Notes: Denton Nebraska driver Terry Richards picked up three hundred and thirty three dollars and thirty three cents for winning the first ever “Backwards Bonus Bonanza” (driver losing the most positions in the first 13 laps of the feature). With Independence, Missouri racer Dakota Earls taking the 100 dollar Hard Charger Award from Design Source Flooring after coming from last place (23rd) to finish 13th in the feature event. And defending MWRA Champ Wyatt Burks of Topeka, Kansas had to scratch from the program after frame damage to his Rumsey 11w occurred while running 2nd in his heat race.
The Wholesale Batteries USAC Midwest Wingless Racing Association will next be in action in Northwest Missouri August 20th at US 36 Speedway in Osborn, and August 21st at I-35 Speedway in Winston.
