Cole Whitt trounced the field in Wednesday night's 30-lap "Las Vegas Super Sprint Shootout" USAC National and Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint race at the Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Whitt built a quarter-lap lead in his Red Hull/Ferguson Bullet/Brannan Chevy, then pulled away again after a late-race restart to beat Jesse Hockett, Johnny Herrera, Jon Stanbrough and Dave Darland. Damion Gardner led the first six laps, but Whitt led the rest. Darland emerged as the new point leader going into Saturday ngiht's "Sokola Shootout" at the Perris (CA) Auto Speedway.
