STAT BOOK: USAC AMSOIL NATIONAL SPRINT CARS
By: Richie Murray – USAC Media
Speedway, Indiana (April 13, 2021)………Three races have been over a span of two months, but this weekend, the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Cars do three in three days for a southern Indiana tripleheader!
On Friday, April 16, it’s a return trip to Bloomington Speedway in the spring for the first time in two seasons, then onto Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt for the Spring Showdown on Saturday, April 17. To conclude the busy weekend, Paragon Speedway will host its first USAC National Sprint Car event since 1998, ending a 23-year absence.
Through those first three races at Ocala, Fla. (2) and Lawrenceburg, Ind. (1), the series has seen three different winners: point leader Brady Bacon (Lawrenceburg), Justin Grant (Ocala) and Kevin Thomas Jr. (Ocala).
Last Sunday’s USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget winner at Oklahoma’s Port City Raceway, Tanner Thorson, leads the Rookie points in the sprints, 6th overall.
Bacon leads in most laps led with 25, all at Lawrenceburg, and shares the lead in finishing inside the top-five and top-ten in all three races. Justin Grant also has three top-fives while they, C.J. Leary and Chris Windom all have three top-tens.
Timmy Buckwalter remains the leader in Fatheadz Eyewear Fast Qualifying times with two, both coming in the first two races of the year in Ocala.
Grant and Kyle Cummins lead with two heat race wins each while 15 drivers have made feature starts in all three of their appearances this season: Brady Bacon, Robert Ballou, Kyle Cummins, Dave Darland, Justin Grant, C.J. Leary, Paul Nienhiser, Jadon Rogers, Chase Stockon, Stevie Sussex, Jake Swanson, Kevin Thomas Jr., Tanner Thorson, Matt Westfall and Chris Windom.
Robert Ballou turned in the biggest position advancement of the season thus far with a 22nd to 9th run in the April 3 feature at Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway.
This Friday at Bloomington, pits open at 3pm ET, grandstands at 5pm, drivers meeting at 5:30pm and hot laps at 6:30pm. Advance tickets are on sale at TracPass.com. Due to county regulations, the capacity is limited to 50 percent, and the county has a mask mandate in effect. If online sales hit the capacity number, there will not be tickets sold at the gate. General admission tickets are $25 while children age 10 and under are free. USAC Member pit passes are $25 apiece & $30 for non-members, with kids age 10 and under $15.
On Saturday at Tri-State, pits open at 3pm CT, grandstands at 4pm, drivers meeting at 5pm and hot laps at 6pm. Adult general admission tickets are $25, students (ages 13-18) $20 & children 12 and under free.
On Sunday at Paragon, pits open at 2:30pm ET, grandstands at 3:30pm, drivers meeting at 4:30pm and hot laps at 5pm. Advance tickets are on sale at www.TracPass.com. Tickets & pit passes will also be available at the gates. General admission tickets are $25 while children age 10 and under are free. USAC Member pit passes are $25 apiece & $30 for non-members, with kids age 10 and under $15.
All three races will be streamed LIVE on FloRacing at https://bit.ly/3dgONXz.
