MIDWEST THUNDER DEBUTS AT MONTPELIER, EASTERN VISITS DOMINION IN SPEED2
Speedway, Indiana (May 6, 2019)………USAC Speed2 action hits the dirt and the pavement in the Midwest and the East this Saturday with the Midwest Thunder Midgets set to debut at Indiana’s Montpelier Motor Speedway while the Eastern Midgets are ready to roll at Dominion Raceway in Spotsylvania, Va.
The Midwest Thunder Midgets are eager to get down to business after Mother Nature spoiled their first on-track try for the season in April. Aaron Leffel of Springfield, Ohio is the two-time defending series champ after winning three times in six appearances last season at Montpelier. Stratton Briggs of Anna, Ohio grabbed two while Columbus, Ohio's Alex Watson topped the finale.
Midgets, UMP Modifieds, Super Streets, Thunder Cars and FWD Compacts are on tap at Montpelier this Saturday. Gates open at 3pm Eastern with hot laps at 5pm and racing at 6:30pm. Adult general admission tickets are $15, kids 12 and under are free (with paid adult). Pit passes are $30 apiece.
Virginia is for lovers, and also for Eastern Midgets, this Saturday at the 4/10-mile paved oval. Colfax, North Carolina’s Chris Lamb was victorious in the most recent Eastern Midget points race at Dominion in 2017. He also captured the win in the most recent series race last week at Orange County while Mooresville, North Carolina’s Sam Hatfield won the opener at Dillon. Alex Murray of Concord, N.C. leads the standings coming in a mere two markers over Nolan Allison.
Gates open 5pm with racing set to begins at 7pm at Dominion. Adult general admission grandstand tickets are $15, students ages 6-15 are $7, children 5 and under are $1, senior and military veterans are $13.50 (ID Required). Pit passes are $35 apiece.
