SPEED2 MIDWEST THUNDER RUMBLES AT MONTPELIER SATURDAY
Montpelier (Ind.) Motor Speedway hosts the only USAC Speed2 Midget activity this week. Aaron Leffel leads the standings, 18 points ahead of Nick Corea entering Saturday’s race.
Jeff Champagne of Westfield, Mass. led all 25 laps to win Friday night’s USAC Speed2 DMA Midget race at Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, N.Y. Seth Carlson finished second ahead of new series point leader Adam Whitney, Derek O’Hearn and Joe Krawiec.
Chris Lamb of Colfax, N.C. captured Saturday night’s 35-lap USAC Speed2 Eastern Midget race at Dominion Raceway in Spotsylvania, Va. He passed Jessica Bean on lap 18 and led the rest of the way to beat Bean, Nolan Allison, fast qualifier George Kurtz and Neal Allison.
Chase McDermand of Springfield, Ill. won a thriller Saturday night at Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Ill. as he edged out Dillon Morley in a photo-finish to take the 20-lap USAC Speed2 IMRA Midget feature. Jeremy Hull was third ahead of Robby McQuinn and Shane Morgan.
Jesse Love IV of Menlo Park, Calif. led all 20 laps to win Friday night’s USAC Speed2 Western US Midget feature at the Dirt Track at Kern County Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif. Annie Breidinger, Tom Paterson, Adam Lemke and Johnny Nichols rounded out the “top-five.”
