KERN COUNTY HOSTS WESTERN US MIDGETS SATURDAY; BREIDINGER EXTENDS ALL-TIME LEAD TO 11 AT MADERA

USAC’s Speed2 Western US Midget Series visits the dirt oval at Kern County Raceway Park this Saturday night with Jesse Love IV sitting atop the standings, holding a four-point advantage over Annie Breidinger.

Toni Breidinger of Hillsborough, Calif. extended her record of USAC victories by a female driver to 11 Saturday night, winning the 30-lap Speed2 Western US Midget race at Madera (Calif.) Speedway, part of the track’s “Pombo/Sargent Classic.” She led the final 10 laps after passing Love on lap 21. Love finished second ahead of Annie Breidinger, Adam Lemke and Blake Brannon.

Rain forced cancellations of a pair of USAC Speed2 events this past week. The Saturday Midwest Thunder Midget race at Montpelier (Ind.) Speedway was washed out. The series returns there April 15.

Saturday’s Gulf Coast series opener at 281 Speedway in Stephenville, Texas also fell to the elements. The Gulf Coast Midgets resume action April 28 at Boyd (Texas) Raceway.
