HEYDENREICH WINS FIRST USAC FEATURE IN 3 YEARS IN MONTPELIER MTM ROUND

Montpelier, Indiana………John Heydenreich of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania worked his way from the back to the pack, taking the lead from series point leader Gage Etgen with five laps remaining to earn the victory in Saturday night’s USAC Midwest Thunder Midget feature at Montpelier Motor Speedway.

The triumph was Heydenreich's first USAC-sanctioned win since a 2013 Midwest Ignite Midget feature at Montpelier in July of 2013.

Jon Watson led the first pair of laps during the feature from his front row starting spot before Etgen took over the point on lap three.  Etgen led the following 13 laps, but Heydenreich was able to make the winning move past Etgen on lap 16 to defeat Etgen, Cory Guingrich, Watson and Nick Corea at the checkered flag.

Etgen remains atop the USAC Midwest Thunder Midget point standings with a commanding 106-point lead over Gunnar Lucius heading into the series’ season finale at Montpelier on Saturday, September 17.
