DOUBLE FOR DMA AT LEGION & BEAR RIDGE; IMRA AT SPOON RIVER; PIERSON GETS #7; RACER #1 AT WAYNESFIELD, ANDERSON WINS AT 34
The USAC DMA Midgets eye a “double” weekend, while the IMRA Midgets return to Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Ill. DMA looks ahead to a stop at Legion Speedway in Rumney, N.H. on Friday and Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, Vt. Saturday. It will mark USAC’s first appearance at Legion. The IMRA Midgets visit Spoon River on Saturday.
Adam Pierson of Bradford, Vt. extended his USAC DMA Midget winning streak to seven Friday night at Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, N.Y. He was trailed by Alex Bright, Josh Sunn, Adam Whitney and Kenney Johnson. Pierson grabbed the lead for the final time from Bright on the white-flag lap.
Brad Racer of Ottawa, Ohio won Saturday’s 20-lap USAC Midwest Thunder Midget race at Waynesfield (Ohio) Raceway Park. Chris Whipple finished second ahead of Ty Tilton, Gunnar Lucius and series point leader Gage Etgen. Etgen has an 88-point lead over Lucius heading into an August 20 race at Montpelier, Ind.
Dave Anderson of Burlington, Iowa led all 15 laps to win Saturday night’s USAC IMRA Midget feature at 34 Raceway in his home town. He was followed at the finish by Andy Baugh, Hunter Lane, Jeff Mallonee and Gedd Ross. Mallonee holds onto a comfortable 126-point lead over Dillon Morley going into this Saturday’s race at Canton.
