IMRA AND DMA MIDGETS IN ACTION THIS WEEKEND; POINT LEADERS ETGEN (MTM) AND MALLONEE (IMRA) WIN
USAC’s IMRA and DMA Midgets both see action this coming Saturday night. Spoon River Speedway hosts IMRA’s return to Canton, Ill. while the DMA Midgets attack the Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, Vt.
Jeff Mallonee leads the IMRA Midget standings while perennial DMA Midget series champ Adam Pierson stands atop the points heading into this weekend’s action.
Mallonee, of Davenport, Iowa, captured Saturday night’s 12-lap USAC IMRA Midget feature at 34 Raceway in Burlington, Iowa. He took over the lead from Jake Sollenberger on lap six and led to the finish to beat Brent Burrows, Hunter Lane, Dillon Morley and Chase McDermand.
Gate Etgen of Celina, Ohio extended his lead in the USAC Midwest Thunder Midget standings with Saturday night’s 20-lap feature victory at Montpelier (Ind.) Motor Speedway. He led the final six laps after passing Tom Hunt on lap 15. Hunt took second ahead of Gunnar Lucius, Bill Dunham and Alex Watson. The win was Etgen's fourth this season.
The Midwest Thunder Midgets resume July 9 at Waynesfield (Ohio) Raceway Park.
