IMRA AT 34, MTM BACK TO MONTPELIER; PIERSON (DMA), ETGEN (MTM) and DAVIS (IMRA) ALL SCORE
USAC’s IMRA Midget Series continues with this Saturday night’s race at 34 Raceway in Burlington, Iowa, while USAC’s Midwest Thunder Midgets return to Montpelier (Ind.) Motor Speedway for a Saturday night appearance.
Jeff Mallonee leads the IMRA Midgets to Burlington, holding a comfortable 114-point lead over Jake Sollenberger. Gage Etgen enjoys a 45-point lead over Corey Bedwell entering Saturday’s Montpelier MTM race.
Mitchell Davis of Auburn, Ill. led all 24 laps of Saturday night’s USAC IMRA Midget feature in memory of Aaron Hull at Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Ill. Brent Burrows, Jake Sollenberger, Andy Baugh and Aaron Schuck rounded out the “top-five” at the finish.
Gage Etgen of Celina, Ohio came from the back of the pack in eight laps to win Saturday night’s 20-lap USAC Midwest Thunder Midget race at Montpelier. Jon Watson, in only his second dirt start, finished second ahead of Jesse Vermillion, Blake Vermillion and Cory Guingrich. Chris Bounds, in his first MTM start, led the first eight laps.
Two-time and defending USAC DMA Midget Champion Adam Pierson of Bradford, Vt. passed Kevin Chaffee in the final corner to record a 25-lap feature victory at Bear Ridge Speedway Saturday night! Chaffee finished second after leading the first 24 laps. Josh Sunn was third ahead of Dean Christensen and Jeff Champagne.
The USAC DMA Midget Series resumes July 2 at Bear Ridge.
