IMRA “DOUBLE” AT 34 & SPOON RIVER; ETGEN, BAUGH & SUNN VICTORIOUS
Mitchell Davis leads the USAC IMRA Midgets to a pair of races on Memorial Day weekend as the series visits 34 Raceway in Burlington, Iowa Saturday night and Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Ill. Sunday night. Davis has a five-point lead over Jeff Mallonee in the latest standings.
Andy Baugh of Mason City, Ill. captured Saturday night’s “Randy Test Memorial’ USAC IMRA Midget feature at Spoon River. He passed Patrick Bruns on lap 11 and led the final 10 laps to beat Gedd Ross, Mallonee, Hunter Lane and Austin Archdale.
USAC Midwest Thunder Midget Series point leader Gage Etgen of Celina, Ohio won Saturday night’s 20-lap feature at Montpelier (Ind.) Motor Speedway where he also won the series opener earlier this year. He led the final eight laps after passing Corey Bedwell, who finished second ahead of Alex Watson, Gunnar Lucius and Nick Daugherty. The series resumes June 4 at Waynesfield (Ohio) Raceway Park.
Josh Sunn of River Junction, Vt. won Saturday night’s USAC DMA Midget race at Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, Vt. He has now won both races this season. Sunn passed Dean Christensen on lap 6 and led the rest of the way for the win over Adam Pierson, Christensen, Adam Whitney and Jeff Champagne. The series continues June 4 at Bear Ridge.
