HPDs INVADE KALAMAZOO SATURDAY;
PATERSON, McCARTHY SCORE MADERA VICTORIES
“Full House Night” Saturday at the Kalamazoo (Mich.) Speedway includes the USAC Eastern/Midwest HPD Midgets led by Chris Lamb (Eastern) and Alex Watson (Midwest).
Austin Nemire, who has graduated to the USAC Silver Crown series, won last year’s Kalamazoo HPD Midget outing. The Western HPD event originally scheduled at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway’s Bullring Saturday has been cancelled due to a track scheduling conflict.
Tom Paterson of San Martin, Calif. and Tommy McCarthy of Mountain View, Calif. scored USAC Western HPD Midget feature victories at Madera (Calif.) Speedway Saturday night. Paterson led all 30 laps in the main even to beat McCarthy, Cody Jessop, Toni Breidinger and Dylan Nobile. McCarthy won the 15-lap “restricted” feature event, leading the final 10 laps after passing Jesse Love IV on lap six. Jessop was second ahead of Love, Annie Breidinger and Ethan Lesser.
The Western HPD series continues August 29 at Kern County Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif.
