2 EASTERN, 1 WESTERN IGNITES THIS WEEKEND;
COLSTON TAKES SANTA MARIA, PAINESVILLE CANCELLED
Honda USAC Ignite Midget racing occurs in the Eastern and Western series this weekend. Chemung (N.Y.) Speedrome hosts Friday’s Eastern race while the series continues Saturday at Mountain Speedway in St. John’s, Pa. Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway hosts Saturday’s Western Dirt race.
Chris Lamb sits atop the Eastern standings and Cory Elliott leads the Western dirt standings entering this weekend’s race.
Parker Colston of Lake Elsinore, Calif. won Saturday night’s 25-lap Honda USAC Western Dirt Ignite Midget race at Santa Maria Speedway. He passed Elliott on lap five and led the final 21 laps to beat Elliott, Jarid Blondel, Christine Breckenridge and Brennan Rogers.
Saturday night’s scheduled Midwest pavement race at Lake County Speedway in Painesville, Ohio was cancelled due to weather concerns. The Midwest pavement series resumes August 9 at Illiana Motor Speedway in Schererville, Ind.
Friday’s race at Chemung is the first for USAC competitors there in six years and Saturday’s race at St. John’s, Pa. is the first ever for USAC at that track.
