PETERSON 12-FOR-12; MILLER GETS #1; RAIN SOAKS MIDWEST
USAC Ignite Midget racing occurs this weekend in Ohio, California and Oregon, involving the Midwest, Eastern, Western and Northwestern series.
Saturday races are scheduled at Columbus Motor Speedway in Ohio (Midwest/East), Santa Maria Speedway in California (West) and Sunset Speedway in Banks, Oregon (Northwest).
Rain forced cancellation of two USAC Midwest Ignite events this past weekend. Both Friday’s race at Gas City (Ind.) I-69 Speedway and Saturday’s race at Montpelier (Ind.) Motor Speedway fell victim to the weather.
Garrett Peterson of West Sacramento, Calif. kept his remarkable streak of feature victories at the Stockton (Calif.) 99 Speedway intact Saturday, leading all 30 laps to post a pair of Western victories. In the first 30 he was trailed by Ricky Bowers, Tyler Edwards, Molly Helmuth and Sheldon Didinger. In the second, Spencer Hill took second ahead of Bowers, Edwards and Helmuth.
Jeremy Miller of Montesano, Wash. earned his initial USAC triumph in Saturday night’s 25-lap Northwest Ignite feature at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash. He passed Chase Goetz on lap four and led the rest of the way to beat Goetz, Michael Millard, Garrett Thomas and Garret Johnson.
Entering this week’s action, Ross Rankine sits atop the Midwest Pavement points, Jared Irvan is the Eastern leader, Garrett Peterson is tops in the Western North standings and Jared Peterson continues to lead the Northwest.
