BLACKHURST DOUBLES UP AT SPEEDROME, GAS CITY; McGEE GETS WIN #1
The USAC Midwest, Carolina and Western Ford Focus Series continue their 2010 campaigns this weekend with races scheduled at Kik-Kare Speedway in Xenia, Ohio and Columbus (Ohio) Motor Speedway (Midwest-Carolina) and Stockton (Calif.) 99 Speedway (Western). The Stockton events include the Western Young Guns as part of a program also involving USAC Western Sprints and Midgets.
Jake Blackhurst of Mapleton, Ill. (Midwest), Scott Hunter of Concord, N.C. (Carolina) and Kyle Edwards of Fountain Valley, Calif. are the respective point leaders.
Blackhurst and Max McGee of Camby, Ind. won USAC Ford Focus and Young Guns features during “Mack McClellan Night” at the Indianapolis Speedrome Wednesday night. Joe Liguori (Ford Focus) and Cooper Clouse (Young Guns) ended up as track champions in the process. Blackhurst passed Andy Nock on the 27th lap and led the final 14 laps to win the 40-lap Ford Focus race in his Kitchen Cooked/Schroth Racing Beast, beating Nock, Nick Drake, Liguori and Kyle O’Gara. In the Young Guns feature, McGee led all 25 laps in his Pit Stop Bar-B-Q/C & R Racing Beast to beat Austin Prock, Clouse, Brendon Bock and Ross Rankine
Blackhurst then led all but the first lap of Saturday night’s 20-lap USAC Midwest Ford Focus feature at Gas City I-69 Speedway after leader Eric Rankine spun on the second lap of the race. Trailing Blackhurst’s Kitchen Cooked Beast were Liguori, Alfred Galedrige Jr., O’Gara and Toby Alfrey.
