BLYTHE, GAS CITY & HICKORY HOSTS FORD FOCUS RACES; QUINN FIRST TO REPEAT IN JUNIOR FOCUSES, EYES BLYTHE
USAC Ford Focus racing occurs on three fronts this weekend, with races at Gas City, Ind. Friday, Blythe, Calif. and Hickory, N.C. Saturday.
Saturday’s race at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway serves to open the 2009 USAC Carolina Ford Focus Series, while the California Pavement and Utah Auto Trader Series resume at Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway in Blythe. Friday’s race at Gas City is the first dirt-track USAC Midwest Ford Focus event in two years.
Scott Hunter leads the Midwest standings but he competes regularly in the Carolina series. Eric Gunderson leads both the California Pavement and Utah series standings.
Kyle Edwards leads the California Junior Focus points by 63 over Andrew Murray after finishing second to Ethan Quinn in Saturday night’s 15-lap race at Ventura (Calif.) Raceway.
Quinn led all 15 laps to win at Ventura. Alex Jacobsen, Tanner Kershaw and Jarid Blondel rounded out the “top-five” after Edwards. The win was Quinn’s second this season and puts him in fifth place in the new standings going into next Saturday night’s race at Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway in Blythe, Calif.
