BLACKHURST WINS FOCUS 100 AT PLYMOUTH; WALKER TAKES YOUNG GUNS

 


Jake Blackhurst of Mapleton, Ill. passed Tate Martz on lap 39 and led the final 62 laps of Thursday night’s 100-lap USAC Ford Focus race at Plymouth Speedway in his Kitchen Cooked/Schroth Racing Beast. The race was the longest in USAC Ford Focus pavement history and only the second 100-lapper in USAC Ford Focus history. Blackhurst was trailed by Martz, Tyler Cottongim, Joe Liguori and Kyle O’Gara. In the accompanying Young Guns feature, Gage Walker of Indianapolis, Ind. passed Cooper Clouse on lap eight and led the rest of the way to win the 25-lap race in his Impact/Walker and Sons Beast. The win was his first under USAC sanction. Clouse finished second ahead of Ross Rankine and Stevie Kuhn.
