ANDRETTI “DOUBLES” IN N.C.; WALMER, KOSTECKI TAKE SHASTA FEATURES
USAC’s Western Ford Focus and Focus Young Guns will compete this Saturday night in a point-rich program of racing on the one-third mile dirt Santa Maria (Calif.) Speedway. Brodie Kostecki of Roseville, Calif. enters both series as the point leader.
Kostecki joined Keegan Walmer of Portland, Ore. as feature winners Saturday at Shasta Raceway Park in Anderson, Calif. Walmer won the 30-lap Western Ford Focus feature over Kostecki, Garett Peterson, Scott Pierovich and Jessica Clark, leading all the way. Kostecki led all 15 laps of the accompanying Focus Young Guns feature to beat Trevor Hunt, James Edens and Walmer.
Jarett Andretti of Mooresville, N.C. won both 25-lap USAC Eastern Ford Focus feature events Saturday night at Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, N.C. In the opener he caught Chris Lamb on the white-flag lap and held on for the final two laps in his Tracy Trotter entry to beat Lamb, Nick Drake, Jared Irvan and Scott Hunter. In the nightcap, Andretti was the last of four race leaders. He passed Irvan on lap seven and led the remaining 19 laps for the victory. Irvan finished second ahead of Drake, Nic Davidson and Steven Intravaia. Davidson, Drake and Irvan all led prior to Andretti's winning pass.
The 2011 Eastern Ford Focus series concludes October 29 at Ace Speedway, an event which has been moved from its original date of November 5.
This weekend’s events at Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, Calif. involving the USAC Western Ford Focuses and Ford Focus Young Guns have been cancelled.
