NEW END-OF-YEAR PRIZES FOR FOCUS & YOUNG GUNS COMPETITORS

NEW END-OF-YEAR PRIZES FOR FOCUS & YOUNG GUNS COMPETITORS

USAC’s 2010 Ford Focus calendar reflects a new structure, offering district and sub-series championships, with cash bonuses posted for year-end achievements in both Ford Focus and Young Guns racing series. This new structure recognizes a growing Ford Focus program and instills an enhanced regional approach for USAC’s developmental series.

Each district will crown a champion and in 2010 the districts will be designated at Eastern, Midwest and Western. The West will have three sub-series. They include West Coast pavement, West Coast dirt and Utah. The East and Midwest will have two sub-series, pavement and dirt.

Season-ending bonuses include a point fund for the top three finishers in each district and the champion in each sub-series. The drivers’ best 12 finishes in the Focus districts and the top eight finishes in any of the Young Guns districts will be utilized to determine the standings in each district.

The champion of each Focus district will receive a year-end bonus of $2,500, with $1,000 going to second place and $500 to third. Each sub-series champion will also be awarded a $1,000 cash bonus. Each Young Guns District champ will receive a $1,000 savings bond.

“We expect this re-alignment of the Focus championships to generate enthusiastic response, leading to unprecedented competition,” says USAC Developmental Racing Director James Spink. “The Ford Focus concept has been a great launching pad for USAC racing careers and in 2010 we are taking the next step in solidifying that foundation.”

The 2010 racing schedules for all Ford Focus and Young Guns championships are being finalized and will be posted on the USAC website at www.usacracing.com.
