VENTURA RACES RESET OCTOBER 25; MOHELSKI WINS 2, HAACK WINS 1, RAIN TAKES 2
Rain forced postponement of Saturday night's USAC California Dirt Ford Focus and Junior Focus races at the Ventura Raceway. The events, including the final race of the California Dirt Ford Focus campaign, have been rescheduled for October 25 at the 1/5-mile dirt oval.
Michael Mohelski swept to victory in the 2008 Carolina Ford Focus series finales Saturday and Sunday while Bradley Riethmeyer emerged with the 2008 Carolina series championship. Mohelski, of Frederick, Md., won both Saturday night's 35-lap race at Dillon (S.C.) Motor Speedway and Sunday afternoon's 40-lap race at Concord (N.C.) Motorsports Park. Riethmeyer, of Hutto, Tex., with 13th and fourth-place finishes, locked up the series crown. At Dillon, Mohelski trailed Rick Fedrizzi for 21 laps, then led the last 14 to beat Brad Noffsinger, Eric Coomes, Steven Intravaia and Bryce Burden. At Concord, Matt Supan led the first 11 laps before Mohelski took over. Fedrizzi finished second ahead of Noffsinger, Riethmeyer and Coomes.
Craig Haack of Lewisburg, Tenn. led all 30 laps to win Sunday's USAC Midwest/Indiana Ford Focus finale at the Anderson (Ind.) Speedway. Haack was trailed by Steven Mathews, Andy Nock, Stephanie Mockler and Tyler Cottongim. Kyle Hamilton of Danville, Ind., who was forced out of the race after being involved in a three-car tangle on the opening lap, emerged as the champion of both the Midwest and the Indiana series.
