LAS VEGAS BULLRING HOSTS 2010 NATIONAL ASPHALT FORD FOCUS CHAMPIONSHIP
The Henry Ford Sweepstakes Trophy will add another name November 6 at the conclusion of the 2010 Asphalt National Ford Focus Championship at the Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway Bullring.
The three-day event opens with technical inspection and “test and tune” sessions on Thursday and Friday, November 4 and 5. Thursday’s “test and tune” is from 2-9 pm and Friday’s sessions area at 3:45, 4:30 and 9:45 pm.
Saturday’s (November 6) race-day slate has practice at 11:15 am and qualifying at 1:20 pm. The 12-lap qualifying races start at 3 and the 35-lap National Championship feature event is at 6:30.
The Henry Ford Sweepstakes Trophy was inaugurated in 2005 and split into dirt and pavement championships last year.
Kyle Hamilton of Danville, Ind. won last year’s National Asphalt Championship, contested at Columbus (Ohio) Motor Speedway. Asphalt Ford Focus point leaders so far in 2010 include Cody Gerhardt of Madera, Calif. (Western), Michael Daniels of Magna, Utah (Utah), Jake Blackhurst of Mapleton, Ill. (Midwest) and Scott Hunter of Concord, N.C. (Eastern).
Drivers who already have their name emblazoned on the Henry Ford Sweepstakes permanent trophy include Robbie Ray (2005), Michael Faccinto (2006), James Robertson (2007), Alex Bowman (2008), Kyle Hamilton (2009 Asphalt) and Andrew Mulhearn (2009 Dirt).
