INTRAVAIA TAKES HICKORY’S “NORTH-SOUTH SHOOTOUT”

Hickory, NC…….Steven Intravaia of Saylorsburg, PA won Saturday night’s 30-lap USAC Carolina Ford Focus “North-South Shootout” at the Hickory Motor Speedway. The race was also a “special event” for participants of the recently completed USAC Midwest Ford Focus Series and drew point leaders from the series as well. Intravaia was the last of three race leaders in his Brown & Miller Racing Solutions machine. He passed Matt Supan on lap 27 and led the final four laps to beat Justin Hommel, fast qualifier and Carolina point leader Jeremy Frankoski, Supan and Eric Coomes. Supan led the opening lap and Scott Hunter led the next 14. Supan returned to the lead on lap 16 but finally yielded to Intravaia. Midwest Ford Focus Champion Joe Liguori encountered engine problems and was the first to exit the 30-lap race.
