DAWSON SWEEPS “BULLRING” FEATURES
USAC Focus racing gets into full swing this weekend, with a pair of Midwest and a pair of Western races on tap.
The Midwest series competes Friday night at the Gas City (Ind.) I-69 Speedway and Saturday night at the Montpelier (Ind.) Motor Speedway. Out west, it’s Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Calif. Friday and Stockton (Calif.) 99 Speedway on Saturday.
Jared Irvan (Midwest) and Wally Pankratz (Western) are the respective point leaders entering this weekend’s competition.
Bryant Dawson of Phoenix, Ariz. hit the jackpot Sunday afternoon at the Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway Bullring, winning both 30-lap USAC Western/LVMS Focus feature events. Dawson, USAC’s 2011 Mod and AA Mopar .25 Midget Generation Next Champion, led the final 26 laps of the opener and the last 25 laps of the closer.
Winn Frazin finished second in the first feature, ahead of Michael Fanelli, Christine Breckenridge and Marina Turner. Pankratz, the new Western Focus point leader, led the first three laps and Frazin led lap four. In race two, Breckenridge led the first five laps before finishing second to Dawson. Frazin was third ahead of Fanelli and George Blacker.
