DEFENDING WINNER BACON ENTERS CORN BELT NATIONALS

DEFENDING WINNER BACON ENTERS CORN BELT NATIONALS

Knoxville, Iowa (July 3, 2020)………Defending Brandt Corn Belt Nationals winner Brady Bacon has filed his entry to compete in the 2nd annual edition of the event on July 10-11 at Iowa’s Knoxville Raceway featuring the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship and the POWRi War Sprint Car League.

Broken Arrow, Oklahoma’s Bacon, a two-time USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car champion in 2014 and 2016, is undefeated at the Corn Belt Nationals after sweeping both nights of the inaugural event in 2019, which included a grand prize of $20,000 for capturing Saturday night’s victory.  Bacon also won a USAC Sprint race at Knoxville in 2011.

A slew of USAC National champions, standouts, stars and race winners have pushed the entry list for the event to 40, and growing, thus far for the event.  Entries are still pouring in at press time, but as it stands now, the list includes six drivers who’ve won driving championships in USAC National competition, including 2018 USAC National Sprint Car and 2019 USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget champion Tyler Courtney (Indianapolis, Ind.), a 2018 series winner at Knoxville.

Additional USAC National champions entered for the event so far are 2015 Sprint titlist Robert Ballou (Rocklin, Calif.), 2016 USAC National Midget champ Tanner Thorson (Minden, Nev.), 2019 Sprint Car master C.J. Leary (Greenfield, Ind.) and 1997 Silver Crown, 1999 Sprint and 2001-02 Midget king Dave Darland, the winningest driver in USAC National Sprint Car history with 62 victories.

USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car winners of the likes of 2017 Knoxville USAC Sprint winner Justin Grant (Ione, Calif.), Kevin Thomas Jr. (Cullman, Ala.), Chase Stockon (Fort Branch, Ind.), Carson Short (Marion, Ill.) and Shane Cottle (Kansas, Ill.) are also entered to rip around the legendary half-mile dirt oval in Knoxville.

2013-14 USAC Western Classic Sprint Car champion Ryan Bernal (Hollister, Calif.) is entered as are 2020 USAC Midwest Wingless Racing Association Sprint Car winners Wyatt Burks (Topeka, Kans.) and Wesley Smith (Nixa, Mo.) as well as 2018 Gas City (Ind.) I-69 Speedway Sprint Car champ Clinton Boyles (Greenwood, Mo.) and 2018-19 POWRi WAR Sprint Car League champion, and current point leader, Riley Kreisel (Warsaw, Mo.).

There, you can print out the form, fill it out and either mail, fax or drop off, along with the entry fee, at the Knoxville Raceway ticket office.  You can mail your form and fee to Knoxville Raceway, Box 347, Knoxville, Iowa 50138 or by fax at 641-842-2899.  Knoxville Raceway is located at 624 N. Lincoln, Knoxville, Iowa.  Competitors are urged to enter the event quickly.

The event, co-sanctioned by the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship and the POWRi Lucas Oil War Sprint Car League, features two complete nights of sprint car racing action with each night culminating with a feature race, the Friday, July 10 main event paying $5,000-to-win and the Saturday, July 11 finale paying $20,000-to-win.

Tickets start at $25 for adults on Thursday and $30 for Saturday.

Gates open each night at Knoxville at 5:30pm Central with hot laps set for 6:45pm.

Brady Bacon dominated both ends of the inaugural Brandt Professional Agriculture Corn Belt Nationals in 2019, walking away with a two-night total of $25,000 between his two victories.

All drivers and teams competing in the event that possess a USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car license will be awarded 50 appearance points each night of the Corn Belt Nationals, which will go toward the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car championship standings.  No prelim or feature points.
