CHASE JOHNSON GOES WIRE-TO-WIRE AT VENTURA

VENTURA, CA – NOVEMBER 29, 2019… Leading all 41-laps, Chase Johnson (Penngrove, CA) earned his second USAC West Coast Sprint Car triumph of the season at Ventura Raceway. Piloting the family owned #24 Johnny Franklin Muffler / Pitstop USA Maxim, Johnson’s topped Friday’s VRA co-sanctioned $3,000 “ARP Battle of the Beach finale / 79th Running of the Turkey Night Grand Prix.”

While an unexpected rain shower delayed the action, track workers, USAC officials, and push truck drivers worked diligently to get the racing surface back into shape. Once the track was ready, outside front row starter Johnson powered to the lead. Dash winner Tyler Courtney briefly challenged for the top spot, but Johnson escaped and sliced his way through slower traffic. It was Johnson’s night and he claimed the checkered flags ahead of “The Human Highlight Reel” Geoff Ensign, Courtney, “The Macho Man” Brady Bacon and Tyler Edwards.

Carson Macedo earned the night’s Saldana Racing Products Hard Charger Award with a twenty-first to sixth place run.

By virtue of his seventh place finish, Troy Rutherford won the “ARP Battle of the Beach” mini-series championship.

A special thanks goes to Automotive Racing Products (ARP) and Bobbi Johnson for supporting the special event. ARP provided random cash bonuses and Johnson honored her husband (World of Outlaw driver Jason Johnson) at the Turkey Night Grand Prix.

On Wednesday night, “Sunshine” Tyler Courtney (Indianapolis, Ind.), took the lead from Chase Johnson to win the opening night 15-lap USAC West Coast Sprint Car dash of the “79th Running of the Turkey Night Grand Prix. Racing Steve Watt’s potent #81T Automotive Racing Products / Maxwell Industries entry, Courtney earned $1,000 for his efforts and finished ahead of Johnson, “The Human Highlight Reel” Geoff Ensign, Troy Rutherford and Brady Bacon at Ventura Raceway.

Johnson topped the 28-car roster in passing points to earn the night’s Woodland Auto Display Top Qualifier honors.

The ten-lap heat race victories went to Max Adams (Extreme Mufflers First Heat), Johnson (Brown & Miller Racing Solutions Second Heat), Courtney (Competition Suspension Incorporated Third Heat), and Tyler Edwards (Ultra Shield Race Products Fourth Heat).

The twelve-lap qualifying races were claimed by Johnson (Butlerbuilt Seats First Qualifier), Troy Rutherford  (Saldana Racing Products Second Qualifier), Tanner Carrick (Wilwood Disc Brakes Third Qualifier), and Brady Bacon (Sway-A-Way Racing Fourth Qualifier).
