DARLAND GETS HOOSIER HUNDRED RIDE WITH McQUINN
Indianapolis, Indiana (May 2, 2019)………USAC Triple Crown champ Dave Darland has secured a USAC Silver Crown ride with Dennis and Dave McQuinn for the May 23 “Hoosier Hundred,” the final racing event at the venerable Indiana State Fairgrounds one-mile dirt oval.
Darland, of Lincoln, Ind., has won the “Hoosier Hundred” on three occasions, winning back-to-back in 1995 and 1996, plus a third in 2004. He also captured his first career Silver Crown victory at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in the “Hulman Hundred” in the Spring of 1995.
The distinctive McQuinn-owned, orange No. 14 has been a familiar ride in the Silver Crown ranks, finishing 5th in the 2016 “Hoosier Hundred” with driver Chris Windom. Ken Schrader competed for McQuinn on the Indy Mile a year ago, missing the transfer spot for the main event.
The 1997 Silver Crown champion’s illustrious racing career includes his status as the only driver to accumulate at least 200 Silver Crown starts, 14 of which he has been victorious in, ranking in a tie for sixth all-time alongside Chuck Gurney.
On Thursday, May 23, be a part of history and witness this great race. “Hoosier Hundred” pit gates will open at noon Eastern, with the Hoosier Lottery Grandstand opening at 3pm and practice at 5pm. Racing begins for the Modifieds at 6pm with Silver Crown Qualifying races to follow and the “Hoosier 100” scheduled for an 8pm green flag.
Reserved seating is available for the Hoosier Hundred by calling the Track Enterprises office at (217) 764-3200, the Indiana State Fairgrounds Box Office, or through Ticketmaster. Reserved seats for adults are being sold for $25 presale or $30 at the gate. Infield tickets will be available for $15 for adults and $5 for kids 11 and under.
