USAC AND HOLMATRO USA INITIATE EXTRICATION TRAINING

(Indianapolis, IN) Officials from the United States Auto Club and Holmatro USA held the first training session for the Delphi/Toyota Safety Squad at the USAC offices July 2. The training sessions will be held quarterly to keep members of the USAC Safety Squad fresh with the latest in techniques and uses of the Holmatro Rescue Equipment.



Holmatro USA is the Official Rescue Equipment of USAC, supplying the Safety Squad with their latest Core Technology rescue equipment. Homatro’s Core Technology uses hydraulic power to run a variety of cutters, spreaders and combination tools to safely and quickly cut and spread the tubing used to construct the cars used in USAC racing.



Pete Fiset, Central Region Manager for Holmatro-USA, conducted the training session using a crashed dirt Silver Crown frame and a Butler Built Seat. Members of the Delphi/Toyota Safety Squad each had the opportunity to use each of the tools to make the cuts necessary to safely extricate a driver from a crashed car. In addition to the hands on session, the Safety Squad discussed how to prepare the seat and roll cage to effectively and safely remove an unresponsive driver from the car.



The USAC Delphi/Toyota Safety Squad is supported by Delphi, Toyota, Holmatro-USA, Whelen Engineering, Simpson Safety Products and K&N Filters. The traveling safety squad is the first fully equipped and staffed safety unit put in use at the grassroots level of motorsports. Each Toyota Truck features Whelen Light Bars and carries fire-fighting equipment, Holmatro rescue tools, clean-up and fluid containment tools and is crewed by fire fighter/EMT personnel. Many of the USAC crew members also staff IRL races and events at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
