PICKENS’ IMW POINT LEAD SHRINKS, BUT STILL IN CONTROL WITH TWO TO GO
Michael Pickens and the Seamount Racing crew slipped to a ninth-place finish Friday night at Bloomington Speedway, their least successful result of the four Indiana Midget Week contests thus far after garnering a second and two wins in the first three races.
However, New Zealand’s Pickens retains his lead by 18 points as the USAC Midget National Championship heads into Saturday’s penultimate round at Lawrenceburg Speedway. The series concludes Sunday at Kokomo Speedway.
USAC National Midget point leader Brady Bacon cut into Pickens’ lead with a sixth-place finish and remains in second. The consistent Shane Golobic moves up to third, 35 points out of the lead. Tyler Courtney climbed to fourth after winning his second feature in four nights at Bloomington. His Clauson-Marshall Racing teammate Justin Grant rounds out the top-five.
