ILLIANA SILVER CROWN DATE POSTPONED
Officials of the United States Auto Club, in order to secure a date assuring success for the anticipated debut of USAC Silver Crown racing at Illiana Motor Speedway, have elected to postpone the July 8 event at the northern Indiana oval and seek an alternate date mutually beneficial for all involved.
Since the establishment of the original July 8 date, a number of scheduling conflicts have arisen, leading to today’s announcement.
“We are all anxious to bring this series to our Great Lakes area race fans but we want to do it on a date we feel will offer not only maximum exposure but also ensure our fans the finest product we can produce,” said USAC VP/Operations Jason Smith. “Illiana’s rich and storied history are well-documented and we want to extend that with a quality event we can all be proud of.”
In related news, the USAC Regional midget race originally scheduled as part of the July 8 activities at Berlin Raceway has been moved to August 7 to create a USAC Regional/WOMS event at Springport (Mich.) Motor Speedway.
