DODSON WINS AT IOWA SPEEDWAY
Cameron Dodson of Greenfield, Ind. won Sunday’s “Casey’s General Stores 100” USAC K & N Silver Crown race at Iowa Speedway, leading 74 of the 100 laps around the 7/8-mile paved oval, including the last 38. Dodson held off repeated challenges from Tracy Hines, who slipped to fourth in the closing laps, while A.J. Fike finished second and series point leader Jerry Coons Jr. took third.
Pole starter Shane Hmiel was one of several drivers involved in race incidents and failed to finish. There were no driver injuries.
Dodson’s run in his Ford/Red Line Oil Beast/Yates Ford earned his team $10,500 from the total purse of $66,150.
The series now gears up for the August 16 “Tony Bettenhausen 100” at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield.
